Facilities

The cottage benefits from a seven-acre field that is accessed from the garden, which is populated with chickens, ducks and ponies. Clients are encouraged in their spare time to participate in the care of the animals. For clients who may have a horticultural interest there is ample space for them to cultivate their own garden. The property backs onto the Southdown Way so clients may go for bike rides or walks. An insulated log cabin situated on the edge of the field provides further community venue where clients can meet one another or just enjoy the surrounding countryside.

The Village

Although the location of the cottage is based in a rural situation the village is only a fifteen minute walk away. The village offers a variety of amenities for example. Post Office, newsagent, butcher and a well stocked village shop at market prices. For relaxation there are five pubs and two restaurants all with their own characters and offering different type of entertainment. There is an excellent network of public transport with a bus stop being located directly outside the cottage. Buses run at regular intervals with the main town being only a fifteen-minute ride away. Situated two miles away are additional shopping facilities and health services these can be accessed the local bus or is only a five minute car journey.

An integral part of ‘Supporting Independence’ is supported living on our main site. Clients receive 1:1 support which enables staff to assist them in looking at Healthy Eating menus, going shopping, assisting with daily tasks and advice on personal health/hygiene. Clients are encouraged to use their leisure time in a positive way so there are many opportunities for outings to the local pubs, joining clubs, visiting areas of interest and going on holidays.
